ISBE joins European Commission and INATBA event on blockchain standardisation

ISBE will take part in the European event Joining Forces for Blockchain Standardisation, hosted by INATBA and the European Commission on March 18, 2026. The event will convene regulators, standards organizations and industry leaders to discuss how blockchain standards can support Europe’s regulatory framework and digital transformation.
The discussions will focus on the role of blockchain in building trusted digital infrastructure across sectors including digital identity, cybersecurity, sustainable data infrastructures and digital finance. The event also aims to strengthen coordination between public institutions, industry and standardization bodies in the development of interoperable blockchain standards.
The agenda includes contributions from organizations such as ISO, CENELEC and ETSI, the European Banking Authority, the World Bank Group, Circle, the Alastria Blockchain Ecosystem, Climate Chain Coalition, Halborn and Hacken, among others
Key topics will include the role of standards in supporting the implementation of the AI Act, the Data Act and eIDAS 2, the development of digital identity through the EUDI Wallet, the use of AI and blockchain for auditability and provenance, smart contract governance under the Data Act, and cybersecurity requirements linked to the CRA and NIS2 frameworks.
ISBE will be represented by Miguel Ángel Calero Fernández, Executive Director of ISBE, and Juan Jiménez Zaballos, who will contribute to the discussions on the role of trusted blockchain infrastructure in supporting compliant and interoperable digital services across Europe.
The event represents an important moment for the European blockchain ecosystem as regulators, standards bodies and industry leaders work together to advance common frameworks that strengthen trust, interoperability and regulatory alignment across Europe’s digital economy.
