Bikiot is the Spanish platform offering traceability services for bicycles.

Among other solutions they offer a digital product passport, ownership registration, wear and maintenance monitoring, geolocation, and condition audits issued by partner workshops. Its technology combines dynamic QR codes on security labels with IoT, GPS, and Bluetooth connectivity in various formats. The project is supported by Next Generation EU funds, the Government of Spain, and ENISA.

Bike theft is a widespread problem with poor documentary traceability. Across the European Union, 1.3 million bicycles are reported stolen every year, according to police data compiled by the European Cyclists Federation, and in Spain almost 30% of regular cyclists have suffered a theft in the last five years, according to Biciregistro. Added to this is the difficulty of reliably proving ownership, maintenance history, and the actual condition of a bicycle at the time of resale.

Bikiot is deploying its digital passport registry on ISBE to give every bicycle a verifiable identity with legal validity by design. Product and ownership technical data are certified on the ISBE network, which deters theft and certifies authenticity. Combined with the rest of the traced information, this offers an unprecedented level of transparency and security in the second-hand market.

The solution combines Bikiot proprietary hardware with the traceability layer of ISBE, the public-permissioned blockchain infrastructure operated by Alastria under compliance by design (GDPR, eIDAS2). Bikiot plans to extend its Bikiot app, already integrated with Strava and Garmin, into a digital bicycle passport with legal recognition across all 27 Member States.
