iCommunity Labs is a Spanish company specialising in trust infrastructure for regulated environments, creator of iPASS.
iPASS is a Digital Product Passport (DPP) system that accompanies every consumer good, electronics, batteries, and textiles, throughout its entire lifecycle, from manufacturing to recycling. Each product receives a unique digital identifier (DID) and each milestone in its history is issued as a verifiable credential (VC), registered on blockchain for public consultation via QR code or link.
From 2026, European regulations require numerous product categories, including electronics, batteries, textiles, and footwear, to incorporate a digital passport that guarantees transparency, sustainability, and circular economy. Until now, brands lacked practical tools to meet this requirement: implementing blockchain natively was costly, complex, and slow, and no standardised method existed to offer real and verifiable traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
A solution for a key challenge.
iPASS addresses this need by documenting every stage of the product lifecycle, including manufacturing, maintenance, repair, reuse, and recycling, through verifiable credentials under W3C standards (VC, DID, JSON-LD), digitally signed and anchored via hash on blockchain. A control panel for manufacturers and distributors and a documented REST API facilitate integration with existing ERP and PLM systems, while automated validation algorithms review product data quality and integrity prior to registration. Any stakeholder, from a consumer to a regulator, can verify product authenticity and traceability in seconds via a QR code, without exposing sensitive data.
The benefits are distributed among the various stakeholders across the product ecosystem. Manufacturers gain European regulatory compliance, reduced audit and sustainability reporting costs, and direct integration with their ERP, PLM, and post-sales systems. Consumers access clear and verifiable information on sustainability, repairs, and product origin instantly via QR or URL, reinforcing trust in brand authenticity. Auditors and regulators receive signed and auditable digital evidence, complete with a downloadable blockchain certificate, reducing the time required for inspection and verification processes.
The solution adapts to the needs of each sector. In consumer electronics, iPASS issues manufacturing credentials, regulatory compliance (CE, RoHS), maintenance and repair records, and end-of-life status, integrated with post-sales systems and an accessible viewer for the consumer. In batteries, it covers manufacturing, capacity testing, second life or reconditioning, and recycling, fulfilling the sector-specific digital passport obligation imposed by European regulations. In textiles, it documents fibre and dye certifications, repairs, reuse, and recycling, integrating with product management platforms and brand sustainability portals.
The platform operates on iCommunity blockchain infrastructure (iBS), with identity and permission governance, end-to-end encryption, and a modular architecture designed to scale without replacing existing management systems in manufacturers and distributors. With this foundation, iCommunity Labs projects iPASS as a regulatory compliance solution that companies can convert into an opportunity for operational efficiency, innovation, and brand reputation.
