Release 1: First Version of the Spanish Blockchain Services Infrastructure Now Available

The Spanish Blockchain Services Infrastructure (ISBE), promoted by the Community of Madrid in collaboration with Alastria and funded by the European Union (Next Generation EU), has reached a new milestone with the launch of its Release 1, turning its base architecture into an operational, secure, and legally valid network.

This new phase marks the transition from a development environment to a fully functional infrastructure capable of deploying digital services in both public and private sectors. ISBE thus positions itself as a pioneering platform in Europe, aligned with the most demanding regulatory standards, including GDPR, eIDAS2, MiCA, DORA, and NIS2.

An infrastructure ready for real-world use cases Release 1 consolidates a hybrid, multi-cloud network that incorporates the first smart contracts, blockchain services, and a more diverse node architecture, ensuring system scalability and resilience. Additionally, it includes a testing and validation environment, allowing organizations to test their projects before final deployment.

The first use cases will be driven by 20 SMEs selected by the Community of Madrid, applying blockchain in strategic sectors such as healthcare, tourism, academic certification, and public administration. These projects will demonstrate how a common infrastructure can generate efficiency, transparency, and trust, facilitating collaboration between companies and administrations.

Trust, compliance, and technological sovereignty "With Release 1, we move from a base infrastructure to a network prepared for real-world use cases. We are building a digital space of trust that boosts business competitiveness and connects our country with the European digital future," stated Miguel Ángel Domínguez, President of Alastria.

Designed as "compliant by default," ISBE integrates comprehensive regulatory compliance and the legal validity of transactions and services developed on its network from its very conception. This makes the infrastructure a key tool for modernizing the business fabric, especially for SMEs, startups, and public administrations.

A strategic project for Spain and Europe ISBE represents a decisive commitment to Spain's technological sovereignty within the European framework. Its interoperable architecture will allow the national network to connect with the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI), strengthening the country's role in developing a European digital ecosystem based on trust, traceability, and legal certainty.

With Release 1, ISBE moves toward its full deployment scheduled for late 2025, consolidating itself as a strategic infrastructure for innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable technological development in Spain and Europe.
